When Jessa called, I was still leaning against the cold stone wall, staring at nothing.
"How is she?"
"She’s dying, Jessa. Unless I find a million credits... I’m going to lose her." I slid down the wall until I was sitting on the floor, my head in my hands. "Jessa, do you have anything? Anything at all?"
"I have two hundred thousand in my savings. It’s yours! I’ll transfer the credits now," Jessa said, her voice frantic. "But that's not enough. Mars, there has to be another way!"
