The memory of our last encounter on the sidewalk played on a loop. I wanted to smash my head against the keyboard, but I didn’t because I’m supposed to act like a freaking adult. Chloe’s intervention helped a little, but I’m unsure if all her training will work once I’m in front of Jin. By Tuesday afternoon, my brain was a fog of unproductive anxiety. I’d stared at the same paragraph about the new story I wrote for hours, but that was it. I couldn’t come up with anything because my mind kept returning to Jin Baek and his blue eyes.

Imogen’s POV I sat in front of my keyboard, clicking away, the entire world fading away. It had been a while I worked on Theo’s book, giving everything that was happening around me. But something about the way Jules’s office smelt of cinnamon with a hint of roses, made my brain kick into writers mode. Thankfully, Jules’s took Ollie with her, so I had no distractions. But it was already getting late, so I knew I had to start rounding up to get Ollie in bed before it was past his bedtime.

It was harder than the speeches. That was the thing I had not fully anticipated. The speeches required me to be present for an hour and then it was over and the presence could end. The book required me to sit at a desk in the kitchen in the early mornings before the children woke and return to the material day after day after day, to pick up where I left off, to carry the story open rather than being able to close it at the end of a session. I wrote the second chapter over two weeks. The third chapter took three.

Endless tomes of geography were nestled in between, their spines a mosaic of colors and fonts, whispering stories of the world's vast and varied past. With increasing velocity, I typed through the pages of the novel, my hands dancing over the keyboard with an almost supernatural speed. Composing it had been astonishingly straightforward, as if the words materialized unbidden from my mind. Maybe the task was so fluid because I wrote of what I understood most intimately: the secretive world of the Fae. I embellished it generously, scattering bits of knowledge about other mythical creatures throughout the narrative and allowing them to intertwine with the main thread, creating an intricate tape

Joel POV After a few hours of writing, scratching out what I had just written, and just simply planning how I would convey what Ineeded to convey in such a small provided space, I set the pen down and laid back. It was amazing how mentally exhausting that was. I would still wait for Shotgun to come back in and review what I had written before transferring it to the official form. In the meantime, thoughts of what he had written will swirl around in my head because I had a tendency to overthink shit.

I really want to make sure that each chapter I share is the best it can be, and that takes a bit of time and patience. Writing this story has been such an incredible journey for me. I've poured my heart and soul into creating these characters and their world, even as a noob, and I want to ensure that every part of their story is told with the care and attention it deserves. Sometimes that means taking a step back to get a fresh perspective. During this break, I'm also doing some additional research and brainstorming to add more depth to the plot and characters.
