I turned to see Joan—hair tied in a bun, eyes glinting, and a wide smile on her red lips.
“Joan,” I said, pulling her into a hug.
“Thanks for coming,” she said as we pulled apart.
I shrugged. “I wouldn’t miss it.”
Her brows furrowed. “Yeah, that… Adrian told us you were in an accident. How are you?”
I gave a tight smile. Of course, Adrian had gone telling people without warning me.
“I’m good, really,” I muttered, then glanced at her dress. It was floor-length pink, the neckline dotted with what looked like real diamonds. The hem was touched with soft blue. Clever way to keep everyone guessing.
