The Bet

The Bet

She had poisoned herself and it was not only the alcohol's fault, but also the constant stress and exhaustion that had been accumulating for a long time. As she passed by the bookshelves, she decided to take some book to read. She was delighted with Matthew's collection. There were all the books written by Clive Cussler, one of her favourite writers, as well as a lot of books by Michael Crichton and Duncan Falconer. What surprised her more was to see all of John Grishams' novels.

I'm really enjoying the story of Jo and her journey, the novel is so realistic and easy to relate to. I haven't had such a good read in a while, definitely looking forward to reading more on Jo's journey.

Carry My Child, Miss Laurier

Carry My Child, Miss Laurier

“Okay, who is that person?” “Hemmingway. He is noted both for the intense masculinity of his writing and for his adventurous and widely publicized life. His succinct and lucid prose style exerted a powerful influence on American and British fiction in the 20th century. One of his famous book is The Old Man and the Sea—a novella written himself.” While I am continuously answering his question, I found his gaze and saw him staring intently at me as he waited for my next words. I bit my tongue, already distracted on the way he look at me so I look on my right only to see Rael, Nathan and Levi looking so proud at me. I lick my lower lip one more time as I continue what I was about to say earlier

"I understand, but you are wrong. I don't know why Johnny wants to protect you, but I do know that when you have Johnny Gravano on your side, you don't have anything to worry about." "It's hard to trust anyone." He nodded. "I know." He walked over to me, taking my hands in his. "I'm an old friend of Johnny. We grew up together, and he always had this smile on his face, even though his life was a mess back home. He was a friend that everyone needed to have, always willing to help where he could, and honestly, he still hasn't changed.

The Rejected Bride

The Rejected Bride

Popping open the buttons again, I grabbed a random book from the pile and knocked on the door. “Sorry to disturb you, but I seem to have a problem with…” I cast a cursory look at the book I’d grabbed and was appalled to see it was a literature book, “…this book.” He arched his brow. “Time to kill" by John Grisham . I got it because I was told it’s one of the books in this year’s syllabus, even though I wasn’t sure if Literature is one of the subjects you’re interested in. I haven’t read it though, so I might not be of much help.”

I'm not sure I can take much more of this. She's about to say something, then pauses like she needs to word it properly. "I believe we all live past lives and ninety-nine percent of us don't remember any of them. There are a select few who do, but like I said, most of us are oblivious." She takes a deep breath. "Josephine died of tuberculosis and it was fairly sudden. Atticus pretty much lost his mind over it. Clearly, he gave no thought to what he was about to do. He simply reacted." "So that's why Atticus killed himself," I say, not expecting confirmation.
