“You—You can’t—” Ghost moved fast, the cloth twisting around the man’s throat, not choking, just enough to remind him of the line between air and none. He leaned in close, his voice a whisper against the man’s ear. “Who sent you here?” The man tried to laugh, but it cracked into a cough. “You think—” Ghost pulled tighter, just for a heartbeat, then loosened again, letting the man drag in a desperate breath. His pale eyes never blinked. “You think I won’t take you apart piece by piece?” Ghost asked softly. “I buried men alive in Cambodia and listened while they begged me to let the dirt finish the job. Compared to that, you’re a child playing outlaw. So I’ll ask again.”

But there was something about the way the man spoke calm, amused, like he was enjoying a private joke. “Who is this?” Adrian asked, his tone cold. The man laughed softly. “Oh, come on. I think you know.” And then, he said the name. “I’m Ghost.” Adrian froze. His eyes snapped back to the body on the floor. A sinking feeling crept into his chest. No. He had just killed Ghost. He saw the body fall. “You are lying,” Adrian said, voice steady. Ghost hummed. “Am I? Then why am I the one calling you?”

They were on the last train for the day, and it was also a rush hour,the two of them were crammed up against the window there. Gianna looked out the window, and suddenly, for a split second, her eyes glazed over! Scott's head was right in front of her, and she moved his head out of the way, desperately looking out.
