My brows tilted to the ceiling. “Just good?”
He rolled his eyes, releasing a huff. “It’s delicious.”
I grinned, satisfied with his admission. “Told you. Josephine makes the best pretzel. Oh! You should also try her fougasse. It’s best served with their signature coffee.”
Kai pinned me with a stare, his jaw fluttering, and I realized I was being too friendly, reminding me of the time on the island. Back then, we shared everything - coffee, food, shower, bed - a short-lived fantasy that ruined me for good.
