Viktor nodded. “And Zane?”
Jaxon’s eyes lifted, cold and certain. “He’ll come when the money dries. He always does.”
For a moment, the two men were silent, the hum of the city bleeding through the windows.
“She won’t forgive this,” Viktor murmured.
“She doesn’t need to,” Jaxon replied. “She just needs to fall.”
Upstairs, Raven watched the rain slide down the windowpane, streaking the skyline in silver veins. The city looked alive, but everything beneath it was dying, the corruption, the legacy, the lies, and they were the ones holding the match.
