Antonio’s hand slammed against the table. “Don’t raise your voice at me in my house!”
“This isn’t a house, it’s a museum for your ego,” Gabriel shot back.
I winced, glancing at Ma. She looked torn between crying and begging them to stop.
Antonio switched fully to Filipino now, his voice rising, sharp and cutting:
“Pumunta ka sa ibang bansa, nagpakasama, tapos babalik ka dito dala-dala ang kahihiyan mo?!” (You went abroad, made a fool of yourself, and now you return bringing shame?)
