The mass dropped and hissed, dispersing. The spear demon moved again—wounded but fast. His weapon aimed for Kael's back, but Rea was already moving. From the side, stumbling, knees shaking, she threw her knife into the demon's shoulder. Not fatal. Not deep. But enough. The demon snarled, hesitated—and that moment was all Kael needed. He spun, blade sweeping in a deadly arc—through the air, and through the demon. The body shuddered, then shattered into shards like dark glass.

He continued to scream. The demon looked over him, before bursting into laughter. The laughter was to mock him, and waste his time. Klaus Lavon knew this.
