1598, Scotland “Nathaniel! Come inside, Nathaniel!” a voice called. “O, she doth teach the torches to burn bright,” young Nathaniel quoted. She giggled happily and turned over on her bed of grass to take in the darkening sky. “Nathaniel Elizabeth Bristow!”

It wasn't until she noticed the strange book tucked away in the corner that she was able to distract herself from her thoughts. "I almost missed one," she whispered. As she walked over to it, she noticed that its cover was worn, and it seemed to emit a faint glow that caught her attention. Maybe it's how the moon perfectly acted as its own spotlight that made it seem so glowy, but it's not just that. She somehow felt a little hint of amusement as she stared at it. As she approached the book, she saw the shinny title written on it, Lunaria, and she couldn't help but be intrigued. The moonlight shining down on the pages illuminated the words in a way that made them seem to come alive.

As we walked away, Lila called out, "Elaya, Serena, I'm not mad that you tricked me into coming here. I forgive you. I'll look after the mentors for you from now on!" She must have thought we were goners. ... Stepping into the Demons' lair, the monsters were drawn to the pure light radiating from Serena and me like moths to a flame. They were practically drooling, eyes filled with envy. "Ah, the Twin Flowers of Chaos," one of them said to their leader, admiration in his voice. "You're incredible, sir. Only you could meet the Dark Lord's and Demon King's demands so swiftly. However, before you hand them over...maybe let us have a little fun?"

She could not stop talking about how excited she was for me to see her bedroom. The sun was setting by the time we finally reached their home. The house was far from the city, set high on a hill, and as we drove up, I could see how beautiful the surrounding homes were. It was already dark, so the streetlights and house lights lit up the area with a soft glow. Tall trees lined both sides of the road, their thick branches adding to the quiet, cold atmosphere, even though I had not stepped outside yet.

It was almost midnight when Emily pushed open the door of Black Raven Bar. The neon lights flickered over her curves wrapped tightly in a black silk dress that clung to her like sin. Her hair, a dark waterfall, fell over her shoulders, teasing the valley of her cleavage with each sway of her hips. She didn’t care who stared at her tonight; in fact, she wanted their eyes. She needed to feel wanted again.

Seeing how much I liked him, Dad reached out to the Twilight pack to discuss an arranged marriage. But after I was abducted and my face temporarily disfigured in that fire, Easton had heartlessly broken off the engagement. It wasn't until I got engaged to Andre that Dad—hoping they'd value and cherish me—offered the Twilight pack a stream of trade deals. That was how the once insignificant Twilight pack rose to power so quickly. I knew the Twilight pack would neither give up those benefits easily, nor would they let me go without a fight. But I also wanted to make them regret everything they had done to hurt me.

I whisper as I fall asleep. He chuckles lightly as his fingers still dance over my belly. "I love you, too, Marrallyn," he whispers against my neck.
