She turned abruptly, needing air, needing space before whatever that feeling was settled too deep.
She didn't notice the eyes on her as she left.
But they were there.
Watching.

Up above, McLauren smiled slowly, rolling his cigar between his fingers.
"Oh, Kane..." he murmured.
"This just got interesting."
He turned slightly, already reaching for the next move.
"Take some cash," he said, gesturing lazily. "Drop it in her booth tomorrow."
