"I'll have to check that out." Sylvester says, unsure of what to say next. I awkwardly laugh and subtly glare at Lily. Just because she likes witnessing drama, doesn't mean she has to start any. Lily gets the message and says, "The cookies will be done soon. You can help move them to a plate."

Lily's POV. I hear voices and try to push them away. I bury my head into a cushion and get irritated when I feel hot. I kick away the sheets and feel cool air against my thighs and back. As I hear the voice getting closer, I sit up startled when I realise someone is in my apartment. I open my eyes and rub them when I see that my apartment is totally changed. My bedroom is of lime green and white color but this room has dark navy blue and grey bedroom with velvet walls behind the bed.

Lily’s father was physically and verbally abusive. She relates herself to Lily and Kurt to Ryle. Although Kurt didn’t intentionally say those words to hurt her, it is still not okay. She was amazed with Lily’s patience with Ryle. But she thought she couldn't do the same. If Kurt says hurtful words again, she is ready to leave him and break the deal.

Lilith had left her maidens to complete the decorations for the wedding--strewing yellow and white poppies near the entrance to the temple, weaving ribbons and small chimes made of silver into the low branches of the oak trees--and walked away from them, west, toward the river, toward where Daniel, Shelby, and Miles were hiding. She carried a bouquet of white lilies. When she reached the riverbank, she plucked a few petals and scattered them over the water, still singing softly under her breath. Then she turned to walk north along the bank, toward a huge old carob tree with branches that drooped into the river.

The pitter-patters trickled, crafting rhythmic echoes as they fell on the ground. It was raining outside. Lili’s eyes slowly opened as the noise reached her ears, rousing her from a deep slumber. Darkness loomed, filling Lili’s sight. She felt her eyes spinning. She tried to stand, but her palms slid, making her fall back into the ground. The familiar scent of dirt-filled her nostril, making her squint. The stiff breeze whispered, piercing her straight to the bones. It was cold. Icy cold. She unconsciously reached out for the blanket but found none to grasp. Instead, the clanking rings of metal as it struck the ground was what she heard.
