Lincoln’s fine robes were rumpled, his hair disheveled, his expression twisted with restrained fury. Two guards forced him forward, releasing him only when Xavier raised a hand.
Lincoln straightened, lifting his chin defiantly. “You have no right…”
“Enough,” Xavier interrupted.
The single word cut cleanly through Lincoln’s protest.
Xavier turned slowly to face him, studying him the way one might inspect a broken tool. “Tell me,” he said calmly, “who sent you that letter.”
