He stared at us, but he seemed lost.
I returned my focus to my daughter, crouching in front of her, and began wiping her tears. "You know, baby, being rogue isn't always bad. Yes. People might look down on us because we don't have a pack. But we don't need a pack because we will live in the city with humans."
She blinked her eyes repeatedly, making the remaining tears fall. "Can't we live here?"
