Lorkan's is wavy, Logan's hair is curly, and Landon's hair is straight. But despite their differences, I know that they care for one another. For three years I've witnessed how they watch each other's back whenever problems arrive. Moments later, Logan's eyes found me so I waved my hand to greet him. He then left the trainees and jogged toward me. "Hey, ma chérie! What brings you here?" Logan asked while showing his perfect set of teeth. "The Alpha asked me to look for your brother Lorkan," I told him.

He was in a loose gray shirt and linen trousers today, his dark curls more unruly than usual, giving him the look of a relaxed predator. "I’m staying. I won't disrupt your hunt. I’ll just occupy myself with these books." Logan’s hand drifted over the spines on my shelf. His voice had a slight morning rasp to it. "You can read those?" I asked, pausing. Those volumes were ancient texts in High Shifter and Old Greek. I couldn't make heads or tails of them. Logan leaned against the wood, a faint, knowing smile playing on his lips. "No, but the diagrams are... illuminating."

“He is an alpha. A leader of men. He has already proved himself.” Leah shook her head and smirked. “Well, if you say so. But I do not see greatness when I look at him. I knew, because I would too. By morning, when the sun barely breached the misty woods, the Bloodhowlers returned. Logan was already awake and dressed, standing tall with his little backpack slung over one shoulder. He turned to us, eyes blazing. “I’ll be okay.” Lilly hugged him fiercely, whispering promises and prayers I couldn’t hear.
