Making Past Perfect
The orb flickered and began to fade, her connection to the elements slipping away.
With every ounce of focus, she poured her energy into the orb, desperate to keep it alive. “I won’t let you go!” she cried out.
But the shadowy chill enveloped them, and in that moment, she felt a presence—a dark force, watching and waiting.
“Keep fighting, Alice!” Johnson shouted, urgency in his voice. “You can do this!”
“I’m trying!” she gasped, her energy waning. “I need to—”
Then, just as suddenly as it began, the chill receded. The orb stabilized, glowing brightly once more. “I did it! I held it!” Alice exclaimed, tears of relief streaming down her face.
