Never had he seen Lucien go this crazy over information. In the past three days, he had read through any and every possible file available on the Grey family from twelve years ago. He even went as far as to continue reading up the years which obviously got him nowhere.

I said and turned to leave. “Not as much as I love you,” she declared. I smiled and went out. I headed to the dungeon at once. Can’t wait to see the painful eyes of Muriel. I reached the dungeon and saw Grey, standing vigilantly mighty, towering over me. “Hello, Grey,” I greeted. I stood in his front like a dwarf in the presence of a giant. He looked down at me. “What brings you here, Lucian?” Grey queried, his voice husky and terrifying.

The silence stretched long and heavy. “Well,” Grayson said quietly. “I guess it’s over.” Lucien stared at him like he was seeing a stranger. “Tell me this isn’t true,” Lucien said. Grayson didn’t look at him. “I can’t,” he replied. Something broke in Lucien’s eyes. “Why?” Lucien demanded. “Why, Grayson? Twenty-five years. You were my brother.” Grayson laughed bitterly. “Were you?” he asked. “Or was I always standing behind you, cleaning up your mess?”

The next morning, I saw him walk out of the veil, his eyeliner smudged, with faint fingerprint bruises on his neck, but he still looked wonderful. He left in an Uber and I stood outside watching him till the Uber was out of sight. I walked back inside, my phone rang, making me halt. It was Lucien. “I need you upstairs.” He said, ending the call. Lucien was the owner of Veil, but not everyone knew that. I climbed up to where he was. He handed the tablet to me. It was a profile of Someone. August Grey. “Keep him under your watch. Or better still bring him in.” He said.

From the gap rose something small and round and glowing. The eldest of Dravenmoor's senior prefects — a seventh year, broad, grey-streaked at the temples walked to the altar.
