For those of you who are new here, this is the fourth installment and should be read after Timber, Mated to Brianna, and Mylo (which is at the end of Timber), but for sure after Mated to Brianna which will set the stage and characters for this book. This book is a slow burn with some spicy heat later on - and lots of it! It’s going to have a few M-M moments, possible triggers, and the heirs can have quite the potty mouths.

"Playroom. Now." Excitement sparked in their eyes as they scrambled after him on hands and knees, cocks bobbing, tails wagging in anticipation. The playroom loomed at the end of the hall. But as Cassian unlocked the door and ushered them in, his laugh rolled out low and sinister, chilling the air. "Only good boys get rewarded. This is punishment. You both have been really bad boys."

Sinclair's voice carries over the small device he usually uses to summon me. Oh, bloody hell! Has he been inside all this while? Just watching me. I'm frozen in my seat for almost three minutes, "Miss Maxwell?" I dart out of my chair and out the door before my name is fully out of his mouth. Knock knock "Come in," he tells me from the other side of his door. After I step in I see he's standing by his makeshift bar nursing a glass of whiskey. His dark hair looks tousled from running his fingers through it one too many times. "You wanted to see me, sir?" I close the door behind me.

I trail off, not able to put my riotous emotions into words. Sinclair exhales deeply and stands, his thumb brushing back and forth along my cheek. “And that’s what I’m afraid of.” He admits. “If something happens to me, I want you as far away from that danger as possible.” I gnaw on my lower lip, averting my eyes as tears well. “Then there’s really no way I can change your mind?” “No, Ella.” Sinclair confirms. “My mind is made up.” He towers over me, his wolf flashing in his eyes. “Now, about this climbing bookcases business…”

I run towards him, only making it a few steps before I’m dragged back. Gray eyes lock onto mine. I feel him poke at my mind. Vera smiles. We were hoping he would do that. I block out the sounds of intense fighting around us. I take a deep breath and clear my mind before he can finish his connection. Using the open gateway, I surf into his mind. A neat little siren trick I learned from those books Cassie made me read. I guess they weren’t all for nothing. I feel his impatience grow. He knows his connection is not working. With Vera and my thoughts already tucked away, there’s nothing for him to sow his devious seeds into.
