There was a heaviness in the air, like the kind of quiet that makes your bones ache, not your ears. Suzanne was sitting up when I entered her room that morning, a pillow hugged tightly to her chest, her gaze unfocused and distant, aimed somewhere past the window but seeing nothing at all. I smiled softly and stepped inside without asking. Maria had already been through, there was fresh hibiscus tea on the tray, a small plate of strawberries and warm bread beside it, but Suzanne hadn’t touched any of it. "Good morning," I said gently, lowering myself onto the edge of the bed.

Then, taking a deep breath, she stood up and called James. Suzanne was not one to give up easily. Since she had set her sights on James, she was not likely to admit defeat. This was just a temporary setback. She would pick herself up and try to win James over. With this determination in mind, Suzanne called James again, planning to ask him out. The phone rang, and James' indifferent voice came through the line. "What’s the matter?" Suzanne replied sweetly, "I was wondering if you're free to discuss the investment proposal for the Xomus Tower project." She was confident that James would agree to meet up.

"Do you want us to continue the investigation process, sir?" Elmar shook his head firmly. "Of course not! I guess this is just a misunderstanding. I'm really sorry for bothering you guys. But at least, with this will be able to provide valuable lessons for my mother. She must stop making a fool of herself and smuggling alcohol into her care facility." Suzanne was waiting in the limousine. She continued to sip on cigarettes even though her personal assistant had forbidden her many times. "You guys don't give me alcohol. At least don't stop me from smoking!" shouted Suzanne angrily.

As she walked past him, her phone vibrated once more in her pocket. Damien’s name lit up the screen. She ignored it. ***** Suzan sat on the edge of her narrow bed in the maid’s quarters, her back bent slightly, shoulders tense with excitement she didn’t know how to control. The room was small, barely enough space for the bed, a wooden stool, and her box of clothes under the frame. But at that moment, it felt like the biggest room in the world to her. The envelope lay open on her lap. Her hands shook as she pulled the papers out again, even though she had already read them twice. She pressed her palm over her mouth, eyes wide, afraid her gasp might escape and draw attention.
