Cole was standing at the head of the table holding a document, and reading from it in the same flat tone he might use to summarize a quarterly report. "We are gathered to witness the legal union between Lucien Knight and Naya Whitlock," he said. I sat in the chair to Lucien's left. He sat straight, both hands resting on the table, his face showing nothing. He had not looked at me since I came in. He was staring straight ahead the way a person looks when they are already thinking about something else. I rubbed my fingers together in my lap. They were cold. Legal union. It wasn't a marriage of husband and wife.

Theo squished between them with a sleepy squeak, but Malakai only laughed softly under his breath. Harper buried her face against Malakai's shoulder, her tears soaking into his shirt. "You scared me," she whispered shakily. Malakai's arms came around her instinctively, one hand spreading across the middle of her back. "It's okay," he murmured. His palm moved in slow, comforting strokes up and down her spine. "I told you," he whispered. "I'm your knight, remember?" Harper let out a soft, watery laugh against his shoulder. Malakai shifted carefully, sliding one arm under Theo while gently easing Summer's hand from where it had been resting on his chest.

I ask as I think back to when Kai appeared at the reception, and he nods. “He has been trying to reestablish the old agreement, but after what happened last time, I will not reconsider. You being my mate is the only link I will ever have with the Sable Hide Pack, but seeing as they severed their ties with you, knowing it would cause you harm, it doesn’t matter. They’re my enemies and will eliminate them along with Argenti’s pack.” Kai says with such venom that my appetite vanishes. He gets up from his stool and grabs his cell phone and wallet from the counter.

Heavy iron cages were lined up in the central muddy square, filled with shivering villagers, while two dozen heavily armored imperial knights paced the perimeter with drawn silver broadswords. Beside me on the snowy ledge, Malakai dropped to one knee in the deep snow, his storm-gray eyes locked onto the central square through a brass spyglass. His massive shoulders were tense beneath his black iron chainmail, his broad hand gripping his heavy broadsword hilt so tightly the leather creaked under his strength.

I did as told lifting Malaya to sit next to me. I have him a once over and if it wasn't for his non existent breast, I'd say he's a she. His waist was really small, maybe a 24 or 26, his wider than usual and his ass was fat. He had such a beautiful smile and his eyes were beautiful too. God damn I'm star strucked. "Good morning, my name is Nurse Malakai Crawford and I'll be your nurse from now on. Miss June is on sick leave so I'm her replacement until she gets back" He said smiling politely.

Kia said, he hadn't left yet. “ H-how did you know?” I stuttered. Was he disappointed? Did this bastard Anakin tell him?? Argh! This can't be good. “ Anakin fights in a peculiar manner that is known only by few people. Not to mention that he is the only knight and person that fights with a katana which he passed down to his regiment,” Kia explained. It felt like my hard work had gone to waste now. Maybe I should just apologize and come clean but I didn't really do anything wrong. I mean, I just trained secretly.

That grin confused Aditya. "Miral?" He questioned her. "Miral ma'am would not even want to spit in front of losers like you. Meet and greet would be the last thing," the peon chuckled. "Mind your language." The peon's tone frustrated Aditya, but still, he was determined to behave. "She was the one who had asked me to tell you this," the peon politely replied with a smirk. END OF FLASHBACK The rage that Aditya was boiling wasn't enough when he heard the voices of trumpets and drums soaring high. It distracted him, and he walked towards his balcony to watch what the pomp and show were for.

The golden haired man stands, sauntering over, reaching out to shake our hands. I take his hand tentatively as he smiles. “Cian, is the name.” His hand is awfully soft as he holds mine for a second too long. I pull away, daunted by his touch. Kael places his hand on my back, a reassurance that we can get through this, as much as I doubt it. Cian takes a step back, motioning for us to take a seat at the dining table. I do so reluctantly, “I didn’t know you had a brother,” Kael says slowly, sitting next to me. The table in front of us is already made. Either it is because of magic, or Sinful planned for this dinner before he left harass us while we were trying to find Kael’s mother.

“Don’t worry, my lady. His highness will be fine. He is strong and he will win. Right, Matei?” Matei grinned as he nodded. “He is the military general of Makkari nation for a reason. No one can beat him, not even his brother." Rosa nodded and turn her attention to the arena. It looks so surreal seeing both men were so fast that the only thing she could see was the glimpse of their swords clashing against each other. She was biting her bottom lips and her brow was in a deep frown. Deeply terrified of Armand getting hurt.
