“Good to see you again, Aurelia.” Cecilia, beside him, smiled as well. “You look lovely.” “Thank you,” I managed, sliding into the empty seat. To my right sat a distinguished older man with warm brown eyes and a kind smile. He extended his hand across the table. “Gregory Blackwood. Lucian’s uncle. Welcome to our home.” “Thank you.” Beside him sat a woman with soft features and genuine warmth in her expression. “I’m Lilibel, Gregory’s mate. We’re so pleased to have you here.”

“Mia? I don’t understand…?” Hearing her name made something ugly twist inside me. “They broke the bond,” I snarled. “And if you say her fucking name one more time, I am going to be sure to cut your tongue off.” Damien’s expression darkened with realization. “Lockwood marked her. She fucking allowed him to mark her.” I stood slowly, fury burning through every inch of me. “She dared defy me and allowed the Lockwood Alpha to fucking mark her, and not only did she do it willingly, she did it after she saw me.”

Their skin was grey, their eyes bloodshot, and they moved with a jerky, twitching hunger. "Elena! Over here!" a voice shouted. I looked toward the broken door. My heart nearly stopped. Standing behind the wall of attackers was Marcus. My ex-boyfriend. The man I thought was safe and boring. He was holding a heavy metal pipe, his face twisted in a smirk I didn't recognize. "Marcus?" I gasped. "What are you doing here?" "I'm getting paid, Elena," he shouted back. He didn't even look guilty. "These guys wanted to know where the Blackwood prize was hiding. Do you have any idea how much your location is worth? I’m set for life."

His family was powerful, but they were ambitious and always looking for ways to climb higher. Adrian’s aura turned instantly dark. The temperature in the room seemed to drop. “Watch your tongue, Blackwood,” Adrian warned, his voice low and dangerous. “You speak about my wife.” “I speak the truth,” Marcus smirked, walking closer. “She looks fragile. Like a doll. What does she know about war? About protection? About the weight of this world?” He looked directly at Zara, his gaze mocking. “Tell me, little girl… do you even know why you are here?”

It was Marcus Blackwood, Lucian’s first cousin and the newly appointed interim director of the family’s remaining North American operations. "Lucian?" Marcus shouted, squinting through the driving snow. He took two steps toward the intake channel with his polished winter boots slipping slightly on the black ice before he stabilized himself. He stared down at the shivering, mud-caked figure in the canvas shirt, his expression shifting from disbelief to absolute horror. "Good God, look at you. They told us the Italian enclaves had seized the regional assets, but we didn't think... What have they done to you?"

“Dan identified him two years ago. It is all there.” Another silence. “Does Whitmore know,” Blackwood asked. “He knows. He called me ten minutes ago.” Marcus paused. “He is not happy, Richard.” Blackwood set down his pen very carefully. “What did he say.” “He said to clean it up. Today. However necessary.” Marcus’s voice dropped. “He is not talking about press releases anymore.” The study went quiet. Blackwood stood up slowly and walked to the window. Outside, London was going about its morning. People walking, cars moving, the city completely indifferent to what was being decided in this room.

He sighed, standing up, "I'm gonna have to kill your entire family in front of your eyes. Is that what you want?" "You've got the wrong person!" I exclaimed, "I'm not whoever you think I am. I don't know who you're talking about and it's the fucking truth!" I took a deep breath, calming myself down, "anyway, good luck finding my family to kill 'cause I don't have any." He let out an annoyed groan before walking towards the door. Then he flipped on a switch and the lights were turned on, revealing Sean fucking Blackwood. Of course it had to be him of all people.

He watched the chaos unfold, a mix of concern and calculation on his face. "Elizabeth, you've made this personal," he muttered, dialing a number. The call connected, and a voice answered, "Yes, Marcus?" "Plan B, activate. Ijeoma's survived. We'll need to adjust." The voice on the other end was calm, "Understood. What's the play?" Marcus's gaze hardened, "Get the team ready. We'll take care of Elizabeth. And find out who leaked the info." The line went dead. Marcus disappeared into the night, leaving behind a trail of questions.

“ Boss, I finished fixing those cameras. Would you like me to hook them up?” Creed asked holding them in his hands “Yes.” “ you okay sir?” Creed asks “ Yes, I'm fine.” “ Are you sure? You look heartbroken” he mocked drawing tears with his finger down his cheek “ how can I be heartbroken when me and her aren’t even together?” I hissed “ say that to your face” he chuckled walking away “ fucking prick” I mumble to myself

Jace shouted into the comms unit. "What the hell?" I asked, wondering what all of that was about. "Your brother is in a lot of trouble." Jace sighed, turning back to me. "What? Why? Wait.. How do you know he's in trouble?" I asked. "Because that wasn't just any man that just entered his building. That was Blaze Maddox." My eyes went wide in surprise. "As in the Blaze Maddox? As in the leader of the Cobras? The one that had gone missing?" I ask, making sure I was understanding everything properly.
