"Conspiracy." "Obstruction of justice." The stranger nodded thoughtfully. "Reasonable." Then, with astonishing speed, he tossed something onto the ground. A small metallic sphere. Bethwel's instincts screamed. "Get back!" The sphere burst. Not into flames. Into thick white smoke. Within seconds, the stranger vanished. Gone. As though he had never existed. Bethwel cursed. His officers rushed into the smoke. Nothing. No footprints. No vehicle. No body. Only a black communication earpiece, lying on the ground.

Lyra's heart raced. Who? The stranger looked toward the sky. His expression changed. The baby wasn't glowing anymore. Instead, a tiny black mark had appeared on his forehead. The stranger whispered: That's impossible. Lyra held Aiden closer. What? He looked at her with fear. That mark belongs to only one being. Who? He slowly pointed toward the sky. The First Creator. Lyra's blood went cold. But we defeated him. The stranger shook his head. No. You defeated his body.

“More or less. Mostly more. The tentacles don’t just come out of faces, they come out of everything.” “Ah wouldn’t like that,” said Flossie. “You should have told us,” said Claire, shuddering. “So we’d be better prepared.” “I don’t think it would have made a difference. And these tentacles don’t seem to have anything to do with the ones I see. Just a weird coincidence.” I wasn’t sure if it was just that, but we didn’t have time to start speculating about it. So, of course, the speculation began. “They looked a bit like illithids,” said Maurice, drawing blank looks from the others. “You know, mind flayers.” Still blank looks.

Yes, I call it torture because that was what I was feeling. My phone vibrates from the side and Elena's name flashed across the screen. Elena is my assistant. And whenever she calls me early morning, it has to be something serious. I shifted the chair, standing up together with grabbing my handbag that was resting on the empty chair. "Fine Mom. I will go. What time is it scheduled?" I asked. "1pm"

This princess is about to have a total meltdown. "No joke. Just relax and give it a few minutes. The doors will open," I say nonchalantly like this is an everyday occurrence, but the fact is this is normal for this place. "What the hell are you talking about? Open the fucking doors," she yells at me, her voice echoing off the walls. "I don't have anything to do with the doors, sweetheart. You're just going to have to chill out." "Are you kidding me? I'm stuck in a stairwell with some rank stranger and you want me to chill out?" She pulls out her phone, I assume in an effort to call someone to come get her.

However, Belphegor quickly recalled someone that his Master, Ainz, had once fought and defeated, a tentacled being named Mind Flayer, whose psionic powers were superb and could rival the deadliest of magics, and could even, to an extent, affect even Undead such as Ainz! "What's that?" asked Chaos. "That's a spaceship of a Mind Flayer, squid-like humanoid beings who possess powerful psionic capabilities! They feed on intelligent beings' brains and are inherently malicious and very hostile… How odd, why is his spaceship crossing through our territory?" wondered Belphegor. "Yeah, squids… With soft skins, tender tentacles, their meat is white I believe, I think some people eat them," said Belphe

like a police gun, it’s a type of gun. Maybe it could do some damage if shot really close at someone. I quickly think of what I learned about these things and turn the safety off. Holding the flare gun in both hands, I shake and wait, keeping my eyes on the fight in front of me. There’s a yelp. The stranger grabs onto Rita as she tries to dash away after a bite. He swings her by the arm right into a tree. She’s clearly a bit winded, shaking her head. But without her attacking, there’s nothing between him and me except trees. I know that’s not enough. He doesn’t try to play with me like last time. Instead, he darts straight forward, his teeth gleaming. With a cry of shock, I lift the flare g

It stopped ringing as I made to pick the call. “15 missed calls?” “Holy Molly!” I looked at my side, only to see the sleeping figure of a man, half-covered by the sheets, his back to me. He had a beautiful tattoo on the upper part of his left arm. I couldn't see his face. I tried to recollect what transpired between us, and the memories of last night came rushing back. The club, my friends, the drinks, the bar, the kiss, the hotel. Then the…. “Oh, shit!” I freaked out as I realized what I had done. I slept with a stranger, thinking it was Fred?

“Asterion wanted to help me, but Eryndor convinced him that opening the original doorway would give us access to the source of creation.” My stomach tightened. “You opened it together.” “Yes.” “What came through?” The stranger looked toward the darkness beneath the chamber. “The absence.” The word seemed to make the mountain react. A low vibration passed through the floor, and the silver Flame flickered beneath us. I remembered the black doorway from my ancient memories and the feeling of something looking back at me from beyond it, something that had no true face but could wear any identity it wanted. “The thing that copied faces,” I whispered. The stranger nodded. “It was the first thing w
