It didn’t matter if this was my first time—I knew I deserved better. Frustration and anger churned within me. My thoughts spiraled, replaying the injustice, and suddenly, my head throbbed with a sharp pain. It was so intense, like my skull was splitting open. I gasped, clutching my head, but before I could fully react or even say anything, everything around me went dark. I could faintly hear my mother's panicked yell, her voice cutting through the growing darkness. It was soon followed by a wave of commotion—people scrambling, voices overlapping in worry. But as quickly as it came, the chaos began to fade, growing distant until it vanished completely.

It was a known fact in this world that regular weapons didn't cut it; only demons could truly slaughter other demons. Slyvara had caught wind of the ambush at the same time Kai did, and she had sprinted to the scene to back Damir up. Moving like a literal nightmare, she shifted into her mist form, slipping through the battlefield and blind-siding enemies left and right. By now, the human guards were totally exhausted, with most of them bleeding out or nursing nasty injuries on the ground. But Damir and Slyvara were an unstoppable duo. They kept pushing the frontline back, making it crystal clear that these grunt demon soldiers were absolutely no match for upper-tier powerhouse demons.

He crashed through the banister and hit the floor hard, demolishing the left staircase in a rain of splinters. “Scott!” Faith cried, glancing back as she dragged Trish out of harm’s way. Pain lit up Scott’s spine, white-hot. He struggled to his feet. “No… not yet…” Jezebel loomed over the girls, reaching for them. With a snarl, Scott rose and sprinted forward, Demonslayer bursting into fire once again. He drove the blade through her right wing. The flaming sword seared through bone and sinew. Jezebel let out a scream that shook the heavens as her wing detached and crashed to the floor in a pool of black ichor.

I try to breathe, but my rib cage feels crushed inward, my vision dissolving into a blur of gray spots and spinning green needles. Through the haze, I see the creature. It is an enormous brown Reaper, its jaw wide open as strings of blue saliva drip from its fangs. Its eyes are completely bloodshot, filled with pure hatred as it focuses entirely on me, its claws digging into the mud as it prepares to charge again. Then, a dark blur shoots across my vision like a cannonball. A terrifying roar breaks from his throat as Damon’s human form completely dissolves mid-air, his body shifting with a violent surge of silver light until a huge, midnight-black wolf slams directly into the Reaper’s side.

“What you’re doing is illegal.” “So is sucking the blood from innocent humans!” Jo retorted. “Or at least it used to be! Before President Crimsoncrotch and his cronies took office. Look. At. Me.” Slowly, the monster lowered his arm, revealing the steel grey eyes that assured Jo one pull of her trigger would end him. She didn’t hesitate. As he opened his eyes to make another plea for his life, her finger flinched, pulling back the tiny piece of metal that let fly a larger projectile, this one exploding between his eyes and leaving him staring into her own blankly for a half a second before he dissipated into a pile of black ash, mingled with piss.

The dark slash was so big that he had a hard time dodging it by running to the right. Fortunately, he escaped death. He mirrored the demon’s attack and released spears from the floor. He blocked the demon who was flying toward him. The spears stabbed the demon’s feet, stopping him in mid-air. The demon shouted. Miasma poured out from his body, breaking the spears of ice into pieces. He then flew fast downward, covering his sword with the miasma. When he was a meter away from Xurden, he fired the miasma, creating dark slashes. They were so fast that Xurden lost the chance to run.

Flying through the clouds, trying to outrun death. I looked at Slade again. There was a strange glow under his skin, like faint cracks of golden light trying to break through. It wasn’t healing. “Why isn’t he waking up?” I asked no one in particular, my voice barely a whisper. Silvia squeezed my hand tighter. “Sometimes… the body sleeps while the spirit fights.” My eyes stung with tears, but I blinked them away. I had to be strong, for him. “We’re almost there,” Damon called from the front. “Prepare for landing.”

But my demon and I were strong, very strong. The spirit of the deceitful Sidhe princess shuddered as I drove my power at her image, my demon sheathing her in fire. She cried out, this time in pain and fear as our combined effort crushed her before shattering her completely. What remained of her dissolved into flashes of extinguished embers. Shaylee cried for her sister while my demon and I comforted her. I looked down at the crystal in my hand, still pulsing green, and saw the future.

Everett replied, "no, but we will jump." Everett jumped from the castle tower. She screamed in shock and hugged Everett's body. Everett jumped on every tree and stopped at one of the taller trees. Everett said, "it's alright, you can open your eyes now." She opened her eyes and was fascinated by the beauty of the realm of black mist. There is a colourful light that looks like a galaxy. She thought frightening darkness only surrounded the realm of Black Mist. But that darkness also looks beautiful. "Should we continue our journey? Don't close your eyes," Everett said.
