Her voice sounded lazy because it bored her talking with him. He hesitated for a couple of seconds because if he asked her a particular question, she wouldn’t go away until she knew everything, even the tiniest detail. “What does it mean when someone kisses you on the cheek?” he said and drank the bottle of brandy to hide his embarrassment. His ear was turning red just asking that kind of question. “He likes you. Did Yric do that? He’s kind of bold.” She had a smile as if she wasn’t feeling devastated earlier.

The tears escaped my eyes and trickled down my face as I stood up to follow him, grabbing his hand as he headed towards the door. Outside a man in a black tuxedo stood waiting on the porch.
