The girl sighed but checked her book and blinked twice before looking at us again. “Um, yes. Your table is ready, Mr. Grey. A bottle of 2011 Château Malescasse is waiting, compliments of Mr. Beaumont.” Her attitude completely changed as she moved to bring us to our table. “Who’s Mr. Beaumont, and why would he give us a bottle of expensive wine?” I whispered as we were led to a private table overlooking the Willamette River.

Grandma beamed in her usual jovial tone I approached Mrs. William and greeted her. She responded politely, her demeanor elegant, as if sand have never touched her skin before “How was your journey? I heard you traveled to Paris,” I inquired. She nodded gracefully, her movements refined. Grandma signaled to the assistant, who promptly began presenting an array of wedding gowns, outfits, and jewelry. We looked through numerous selections, each more exquisite than the last. Finally, Grandma insisted I try on a particular wedding gown. As I headed to the fitting room, Grandma suggested Mrs. William accompany me to assist.

She scribbled a few lines and passed Maxima the paper. “That’s the address and the name of the realtor who’s handling the property. Why don’t you check it out? I have good instincts about people. I think you and I are going to get on just fine, Chef Davenport.” “Me, too, Georgia.” “Great! You’ll get to meet Melinda on Saturday. She’s the cake-maker. See if you two like each other. Who knows?
