“Thanks for standing up for me,” I say suddenly.
“That’s what friends are for!” she says, swaying her hips.
“Yeah, but, other than Levi, no one has ever done that for me before.”
She stops and looks at me. I have a moment to feel guilty for the sadness on her face before it’s replaced with a smile. “That’s because you’ve never had a bestie like me before!”
She pulls me into a side hug and pulls out her phone to take another picture of us.
