All Things Lovely
So many painting were hung on the walls, and yet I would always stop and look at just one of them.
It was a painting of my mother, young and beautiful—exactly how everyone had described her to me. Her hair, red as furious fire, was exactly like mine, flowing down in reddish gold waves down her back. The painting couldn't capture all of her beauty, they'd all say. She had always been beautiful, dad told me, but she had apparently been so much more than a pretty face. I only wished I could meet her at least once.
I stopped in front of the painting once again, wondering if she would have been proud of me if she was here. If she would have really loved me for she had died after just a glimpse at
