He was from Oxford! I repeat, the man who had seen me getting a man off in the office was from the prestigious Oxford university and not only was he from there but also the Vice Chancellor and I was apparently his new student! The hallways lacked silence as they were filled to the brim with students who looked like they lived in castles and drunk the finest wine that had been exported from France, their entire life! Nobody paid attention to me, as they either had their noses in a book, or their phones which I wasn’t complaining. I did not want any attention on me, that would have been nerve raking.

Meanwhile, I clutched my second-hand textbooks to my chest and reminded myself not to faint. “You earned this,” I whispered under my breath. “You belong here.” Even if it didn’t feel like it. If death hadn’t been so cruel to yank my lovely family I would be in Oxford University. Oh well. The campus was breath taking the ivy climbing ancient stone walls, sunlight spilling over perfectly trimmed lawns, and fountains that sparkled like someone had poured diamonds into them. It was the type of place where the children of CEOs and oil tycoons walked with the confidence of people who knew the world already belonged to them.

The warm spring breeze blows the clean white curtains, and her thoughts are lost in the old days. Lydia and Vince's encounter was quite dramatic. When they first started college, they were at their most rebellious. In order to rebel against the constraints of their families and experience the world, they both refused the universities and majors arranged by their parents and came to Oxford on scholarships. The British weather was sometimes annoying, but for the time being, they were free from the questioning, flattery and unkindness, and could finally enjoy college life incognito like everyone else.
