Mystery Skulls Song Novels & Stories

“Sorry, but I'm having trouble believing a talking skull has good intentions.” The air became cold as ice. He turned on his heels, cloak whirling furiously. “Talking skull? Oh, that,” he chuckled, drawing his hood back slightly and bringing his face into the light. The grinning skull shook with laughter. “Do I scare you, Callie Parker? Because underneath that pretty flesh, you're just like me.” He drew closer. “Do you know what the word grimnir means, Callie?” he asked, drawing his fingers across his stony brow. “Like grim? Yeah. Creepy. Like you.”

She cradles it in both hands like a treasure and turns to me with the brightest smile I have ever seen on her face. A human skull. Small. Delicate brow ridge. The lower jaw missing. She strokes the cranium the way one might stroke a beloved pet. “Look, Cassie,” she sings. “It’s Mother.” The world tilts. Bile surges up my throat so fast I can’t stop it. I turn my head and vomit onto the stone, what little is left in my stomach splattering beside Father’s cooling body. The acrid smell mixes with blood and smoke until I’m retching again, dry, painful heaves that tear at my raw throat.

“You’re gonna get yourself killed alright.” Daniel and I just shook our heads and left. We had enough dealings with psychopathic maniacs and we were not gonna add some stranger to the list. “What did he even mean by that?” I asked Daniel. “I have no idea.” “Well do you have any idea how to get to this old skull’s road?” I asked. He looked at me funny. “What?” “You don’t know where old skull’s road is?” He asked incredulously. “I just said that.” He started the car. “Ash, Old Skull’s road is the same road where Natalie’s warehouse was located.”

CHUG-CHUG-CHUG-WEEEEEE! A deafening, chaotic wall of distorted guitars and double-bass drumming blasted through the air. It was heavy metal. Specifically, "Raining Blood" by Slayer, played at maximum volume. Jack covered his ears. "What the hell is that?!" "Oops!" Hailey’s voice came over the music, sounding sheepish. "Wrong folder! I meant to hit 'White Noise,' but my finger slipped on my 'Doomsday Playlist'! Sorry! But hey, look at the frequency graph!"

He was terrified, not only of the invisible dogs but the child. The menacing barks could be heard as we watch dog slime dripping on the bone man's face. He screamed then we saw his legs being pulled from his body. The bones cracked and crunched until they disappeared into the bellies of the invisible dogs. "Are they eating him?" Zander asked. "Yes," Isis gulped. Skully attempted to free himself, but the dogs were too strong and without his scythe, he was just a helpless bone man. The dogs chomped and chomped until all that was left was his skull. "I will be back!" he cried.

But just as she had expected, she found nothing. She sat down on a rock to catch her breath. She could now rule out the possibility of having simply lost it. The only remaining possibility was that it had been stolen. She was wondering if she ought to search Canmir's black market when she suddenly heard hurried footsteps coming from nearby. Before she could even turn around, a tingling numbness spread across the back of her neck. The moment she closed her eyes, she fell into a solid and warm embrace.

she asked. Godrick nodded and looked at her. “Yeah. You like it?” Ciara nodded vigorously. “Yes! But I only know one song. It was Scott who introduced them to me.” “Ooh, that’s a good start. If you like Def Leppard, then you have good taste in music.” Then Godrick pressed something on the screen and the song grew louder. “What songs do you know?” asked Godrick then. “Hysteria.” Godrick sneered as he nodded. “That’s a great song. You should hear the others, too.” Then he pressed something on the screen. “You should listen to this.”

Axel signaled him to come nearer and sit in front of him. “What’s your name and rank?” “I-I’m Sky... and I’m a Psi,” he meekly muttered, pushing his glasses up. Axel understandingly nodded. A Psi, just like Liam. “Good evening to you too, Sky. What do you need?” “W-Well, uh, I just finished reading a book and I-I thought I’d share it with you... Alpha.” Sky gave him the book with shaking hands. He looked down on the cover and read the title: The Anthem of Lycanthropy.

the machine ordered, “or watch him die.” Maya pushed herself up. Her eyes weren’t blue or white anymore; they’d turned dark, the color of a coming storm. Her leg still hurt, but she didn’t care. If her mom was the network, then the network was hers to command. She ignored the sad cello music. She started humming something different—the song she’d heard that odd little creature sing deep in the cave. A song of thanks. The song of the forest. STOMP. She slammed her skate into the ice. A crack shot out, glowing green from the inside.

And sure enough, as I came closer, I saw the drops fall and land with a splat on an old little leather drum sticking out from the massive wall of skulls and bones. With a shriek, I fell right on my ass and crawled back, staring at the skull that stared back at me. Its eyes moved, looked at me, and even followed my moves as I crawled away. “What the hell is that, Loki? What is this place!” “Calm down; it’s the middle passage. It's a little boring and empty, but there's nothing to worry about. Everything passing here is only heading one way and is not used much nowadays. This is where warriors are separated from the weak and
