Adrian murmured, glancing at Tyron who was wide-eyed with astonishment. The cries filled the air, and alarm spread across everyone’s faces. None had anticipated such terrifying sounds. It was as though countless souls had met their end within these walls. Some instinctively wanted to flee, yet the allure of the tomb’s mystery proved too strong to resist. This place was steeped in enigma. That was why I could bravely walk down there. With every step, I paused in preparation to run and hide. The entire staircase only had around 30 steps, yet it took me five whole minutes to walk all the way down. Stopping in front of the basement, I pressed my ear to the door and listened for sounds. "Ah! Ah!" A woman's moans came from inside, and it sounded sexual! Shocked, I felt chills run down my spine. As I thought, there was someone there! Who was she?

And in the center—an altar. A skull rested on it. Massive. Cracked. Crowned with dull gold. Not wolf. Not human. Something stranger. Kael stepped forward, eyes narrowing. “That’s not a wolf.” Ezra walked closer, his breath catching in his chest. The skull had a shape that didn’t belong in this world—sharp, long, unnaturally curved. Wrong in a way that made his stomach twist. Below it, a flame burned. It didn’t float. It sat. Low. Blue. Quiet. But when Ezra stepped closer, it flickered in time with his pulse.

Skulls lined niches in the wall, stacked in silent watch. The deeper they went, the louder it became. Not in sound—but in presence. It was like the air itself whispered, words just out of reach. Emilia’s heart quickened. She couldn’t tell if it was her imagination or something else entirely. Then one of the voices became clear. “…Emilia…” She stopped. Her breath caught. “What is it?” Thalia asked, stepping closer. Emilia turned her head, eyes scanning the skulls. One of them—cracked and yellowed—stared back at her. No magic shone from its sockets, but she heard it again.

Fast-paced heavy metal-type chords thump my veins, the live sound of the music taking my breath away. My queue to come in is signaled by London who lets out a deep roar. Being a call-and-response song it was by far one of my favorites from Crash Course Rebellion and now I get to live it. I sing the melody, Jackie is in harmony and London's note is a growl. ~ "I can't fight it!" London and Jackie:"I can't fight it!" "There's a feeling deep inside when I look into the eyes of the monster!" "I see through it!" London and Jackie: "I see through the facade!"

Because after all of it, this kind of situation still scares me. What am I going to do? There’s one thing going on inside my mind. I need to call Roberto. As I was trying to get my phone out of my purse, I silently cursed when I found out that the battery was dead. Why does my life always suck? Did I do something today that resulted in my unluckiness? God.

The screams that erupted inside the covered gym were deafening. I gasped as he began playing the intro: Look at the stars Look how they shine for you and everything you do yeah, they were all yellow I came along I wrote a song for you and all the things you do And it was all yellow.. The screams around me grew louder, especially when he looked towards the audience as if searching for someone to sing to. I held my breath tightly as our eyes met.. Your skin, Oh yeah, your skin and bones turn into something beautiful you know

My breath is black fire, spilling through cracks I’ve licked open with centuries of rage. I laugh anyway. One link snaps. Not thunder—worse. Thunder dies. This echoes and refuses instruction. Ash pours upward, crawling the seams into divine streets. Mortals will call it dust and sweep it from ledges. They won’t see the skulls riding the current. Another link shatters. Arms tear; bone splinters; bronze light spills like blood. Runes shriek. I answer them. Skulls drop and split, whispering the names of the forgers. I mouth each like marrow.
