Roberta sighed and shook her head, “Finding a partner that is right for you is so hard, it’s harder than going to the moon honestly. You don’t have to feel miserable, we are all struggling with our love lives, it’s a mess everywhere.” I appreciated her encouragement so I stopped crying, she wiped the tears under my eyes and smiled, “You will be fine, we will all be fine. When you are ready let me know, I will try and set you up with someone else.” she said. In my bed that night, I could feel nothing but pain. One thing I have noticed after suffering from two heartbreaks is that the pain gets worse at night. Even in my dreams, I was crying, I needed Ralph back with me.

Maya let out a bitter laugh, tears welling up in her eyes—yet not a single drop dared to fall. That familiar pride, that unyielding dignity, wouldn't let her break. "Maya," she muttered to herself, a tight whisper lost in the night, "what are you still hoping for? He never had you in his heart." Just then, her phone buzzed. It was a message from Diana. "Maya, now you finally see it, don't you? Oscar's heart was never with you. If I wanted, he'd toss you aside in a second."

None of us would let it go. Because the dream wasn’t all lights and freedom and relaxation. It wasn’t all fun and fucking laughs like we thought it would be. I didn’t know what to say, but the ache of feeling wronged burned deep inside me. "I need some air," I muttered before pulling away from his hold and walking out of the room. The cold night air hit my face as I stepped outside, and the tears I’d been holding back came pouring out. I wandered aimlessly through the bustling streets, the bright lights and hum of traffic blending into the background. My phone buzzed repeatedly with Trevor’s calls, but I pressed decline every time, unwilling to hear his voice. For the first time, doubt crept into my heart.

Composed. A burn started in my chest. One that ached and consumed. It was full of bitterness and anger. I suddenly knew why I hated it. My decision--my choice--had caused this. Such a familiar feeling. Weakness. I was once again a weakness. The burn in my chest calmed. But—oh, did it simmer. I wasn’t the same girl who jumped. But maybe I was still the one who broke him. As Richard extended his hand, I hesitated, teetering on the precipice of a new, enigmatic journey. I eyed Richard's outstretched hand, memories of pain and betrayal echoing in my mind. "Save our fractured hearts?" I scoffed, bitterness lingering. "You're the reason they're fractured in the first place." He winced, the weight of guilt evident in his gaze. "Elain, I know I hurt you, and I can't change the past. But there's more at stake now. Things you wouldn't believe." I crossed my arms, considering his words. "Try me," I challenged.

“I’m in love with someone else and I can’t get into a loveless marriage, I tried but as early as now I don’t see it working.” I slowly paused in my tracks, tears still oozing out of my eyes and turned to look at the Nelly, she was now surrounded by Sasha and their other friends who were trying to comfort her, he didn’t seem touched by her outburst, he just kept at what he was saying. Men are actually one very dirty and worthless specie, what can they not do? It wasn’t any of my business anyway, I turned and continued walking out. Heartbreak is inevitable, at the end of the day everybody will be served!

And as the sun began to set outside the clinic window, I finally understood what heartbreak truly felt like: It wasn’t loud. It was quiet. It was the sound of being erased.

I once read in a magazine, while getting my hair done on a particular day several months ago, that it had been scientifically suggested and proven that heartbreak felt the same way that physical pain does. "A broken heart is a metaphor for the intense emotional stress or pain that one feels at experiencing a great loss or a great longing." the magazine had read, "Most people have experienced a broken heart, and there are multiple possible causes for it. But whether it comes from a break up with a significant other or the death of a loved one, heartbreak is never easy."

Her heart seems to be breaking into pieces, making her feel numb. Midnight neighed, seeming to feel its owner's desolation. ****😳😢😳****
