CHAPTER 30: The Snake Inside Vincenzo’s Pov I just stood there after the kiss. It was so stupid. I kissed her in that dark hallway. I shouldn't have done that. I'm the Don, i don’t just kiss people whenever I feel like it. I’m the boss of everything but she was right there, and she looked so mad at me for showing her off at the party. I liked that she was mad. She didn’t look scared at all. She just looked angry. I pulled away and left fast before I did anything else totally dumb.

His surroundings suddenly became blurry with Karina's presence. “Take care of Karina, dude.” Bagas patted Saka's shoulder lightly. “Sure.” Karina had already held Saka’s hand. They both faced the priest. They began to say their sacred vows. Now it was time…to kiss. Saka approached. But everyone sighed in disappointment. After opening the hood that covered Karina's face, instead of fiercely kissing Karina's lips that looked tempting. Saka kissed Karina's forehead while closing his eyes. “Officially mine.” Saka whispered right next to Karina’s ear.

The roughness of his hands—a mechanic’s hands, scarred and grease-stained—against my tender skin made me shiver. He runs his tongue along the lip I was just chewing on before plunging his mouth onto mine. A kiss so deep, so passionate, I could feel every bit of emotion he poured into it. Leaving me breathless, he moves to the pulse points on my neck, taking his time sucking on them. The more I squirmed, the harder he suckled them. Pressure coiled low in my belly, a live wire sparking with every graze of his teeth. The scars at my wrist hummed, their light a silent echo of the storm building between us.

I said, "Oh, please, Nate, please don't stop!" and dug my nails in his hips, almost there, and then a small shift in our alignment allowed him to press even more into me, and almost before I could moan, Nate closed his lips on mine and his tongue teased mine. I felt Nate's balls on my stomach, and I moaned in excitement. I relaxed my head on the pillow letting Nate take my pain away.

he whispered, kissing up my neck before kissing me breathless. “I love you with all my heart, Hibiki.” I smiled, cupping his face in my hands. “And I love you with all that I am, Yūri. My Kitsune.” he smiled before shifting and untying my legs. We collapsed together in a heap, catching our breaths and trying to find the energy to get up and take some pain medicine for all the sore joints that were screaming at us for all the activity.

I stared at his perfect lips, wanting to kiss them, as they formed the words. “Yeah, well, I never said I was a good student.” The fingers of one of Noah’s hands made their way to my chin, moving me into a gentle, yet insistent kiss. The kiss deepened, my lips parting to give him more. His kiss was hot and deep, banishing every unhappy thought from my mind. He tucked his head, breaking the connection and allowing me to replenish the much needed oxygen for my aching body. I took an unsteady breath, keeping my eyes closed, feeling lightheaded and wonderful.

Right before they touched, he breathed, “I love you.” And then he kissed me. I kissed him back, the sound of the waterfall drowning out everything but him.

Then he speaks. “Thank you all for your patience,” he says smoothly. “Allow me to introduce you to Diana—my fiancée.” The room freezes. Gasps ripple around the table. Eyes widen. Shock hangs thick in the air. And just like that— I’m no longer invisible.

Like it was exactly where she was supposed to be. He kissed her. Not for cameras. Not for a narrative. Not for anyone or anything except the two of them at a window in Singapore with the truth out in the world and thirty years of other people's careful planning finally at rest around them. When they pulled back she was aware of the room. Of Priya very deliberately looking at her laptop. Of Adaeze very deliberately looking at her phone. Of Grace at the table with Catherine. Grace was looking at them. Not with the watchful assessment she brought to everything.

“No matter what. I’d always come back.” And then, he pulled her in, and their lips met in a kiss that was unlike any they’d ever shared before. It wasn’t a kiss of passion or desire, not exactly. It was a kiss of survival, a kiss of gratitude, a kiss that said I’m here, you’re here, we made it. It was a kiss that tasted of smoke and tears and cold water, but it was also a kiss that tasted of love, of hope, of the future that was still waiting for them.
