Zoey was about to deposit the food in her mouth when Titus rose to the floor. "Barnabas," his voice was raucous as he spoke. He worked the tip of his tail to smack the scrap of flesh from Zoey's hand. The steam hovered in the air, showcasing that it was prepared not long ago. That was when Zoey saw it. Barnabas's tattoo. An eagle being crushed by a serpent was burnt in the middle of the flesh. "Everyone, stop eating. This isn't fish or chicken." Everyone froze.

I ask quietly. "I got most of my tattoos on my sixteenth birthday, as a symbol of manhood. Neron's mother was a part of a tribe known as the Sceneca, they lived in these woods. They had a tradition where at the age of sixteen, boys would get these tattoos to symbolize their ascent into manhood. Being raised by Neron, I was brought up learning such traditions, which is why I got the tattoos done," He explains, as if reminiscing a fond memory. "So, Neron is not a native to this country?" It was kind of a silvery marking on his back. Like, his entire back. I wanted to touch it and not just because he was hot. It almost looked like paint. “The Goddess is good, what can I say? Christian this is our mate Grace,” Jack said, as I stuck out my hand. Christian looked at it, confused. He even took a step back as if I had cooties. He just said Jack was lucky, but he won’t come near me? My face immediately fell in offense.

The intricate snake on his left neck caught my attention first – its delicate scales seeming to slither across his skin. My gaze, though imaginary, traced the vibrant, full-back serpent, its red and black hues dancing in mesmerizing harmony. I shook my head, clearing it; I gently touched the wounded area on his right, trying to understand what I was dealing with.
