Novel & Cerita Neon Drawings

For a little guy, he is way too good. There are all different kinds of drawings that are too neat, I shuffle through them, trying to find one to stick on our fridge in the kitchen. I smile to myself when I come across a picture of him and I then there's Jasmine and even Alex, with and without devil horns— that makes me laugh. I pass by other boyish things, like cars, dragons, dogs, dinosaurs and ninjas, lots and lots of them.

"What does your new friend look like, Heidi?" Heidi proudly lifted her drawing. It was a crude, childish sketch of a very tall figure standing between two giant green trees. The figure was colored completely in dark gray and black crayons, but the most unsettling part was the face. Heidi had used a bright yellow crayon to draw two massive, perfectly round circles for the eyes.

They held hands while looking at the photographs of themselves displayed elegantly in Maxine's private home gallery. Most of them were in black and white in various sizes. Charlie's hands were sweating, but the excitement on her face somehow made it worthwhile. Looking at their naked bodies on canvas was surreal, Maxine did a very good job in editing them and made it look like a professional artwork.

TIME: DAY 19 OF EXILE, 13:00 HOURS. LOCATION: SECTOR 6 - THE NEON SQUARE. STATUS: RESPITE. The Neon Square was designed to be a monument to corporate invincibility. It was an expanse of flawless white marble and polished chrome, larger than four city blocks, bordered by high-end luxury boutiques and manicured, synthetic botanical gardens. Now, it looked like the staging ground for the apocalypse.

I said gently, wrapping my finger. She giggled. “No, he is! He gave me this crayon box. Ask Jimmy if you don’t believe me.” She showed me her drawing: five figures. “That’s you in pink, Daddy in black, me in yellow, Jimmy in blue... and—” “And who’s this one in red?” I asked. “Why are there horns? Is that blood, Luna?” Before she could answer, Elane walked in. Luna quickly hid the sketchpad behind her back.

My face flushed. “I can feel you staring at me.” Croix said, snapping me out of my thoughts. Neil had a headphone on with his eyes closed so either he’s fast asleep or deep in the music. “I’m bored.” I admitted, embarrassed that I’ve been caught staring. Croix stood and removed a glove, opened a drawer and took out a sketchbook and coloured pencils and other drawing stuff. “Maybe this will help you stop fidgeting. It helps me.”
