The beast lunged, but Bruce dodged with a speed that left even Malrik watching with intrigue. With a roar, Bruce leaped onto the beast’s back, his claws tearing through its tough hide. The creature bucked and thrashed, but Bruce’s grip was ironclad. He drove his claws into its spine, channeling every ounce of his strength into the attack. With one final, ear-piercing roar, the beast collapsed, its body dissolving into black smoke that dissipated into the air.

As he came up to us, I got a closer look at him. He had tanned skin that radiated under the sun and he moved so gracefully like royalty. His eyes were deep amber and he had a perfect body. I sighed, what was worse than having three hot men as mates? He stopped right in front of me and took my hand. I felt sparks inside of me as I made contact with him. In the middle of the clearing the pipes intersected and ended on a large round platform. They were both completely confused by the sight. Then they heard a sound. Quiet at first, but then louder and louder. Like an animal growling and roaring. And whatever it was, it was coming towards them. A huge beast emerged from one of the tunnels and one of their fellow passengers screamed in fear. Nio wanted to scream himself, but somehow managed to stop the scream in his throat. As he prepared to fight, the beast slowed down and upon closer inspection Nio realized it was a machine. One of the dwarven hellish inventions.

A series of glowing, green circuits and silver-bone plates. "I'm the original," the machine said. "You? You’re just the 118th attempt at a perfect mother." A massive, green beam of light erupted from the ocean floor, hitting the sky.

The auction starts. It’s everything I should’ve expected and more. Guards flank the walls. Waiters flit between tables with wine. A screen lights up with items: guns engraved with old family crests, blades made of obsidian, stolen Fabergé eggs, ancient rings that once sat on the fingers of dead kings. I blink. So this is real mafia shit. Testosterone, money, and blood—it’s all in the air. Very on-brand for these psychos. Still... it gets boring quick. The novelty wears off after the fifth weapon with a blood-stained legacy.

AS WE WALKED, DIFFERENT types of Invent’s and my creatures scurried under our feet. They were monstrous creatures that were part human, animal, and machine. They use the maze to travel to the outside. I even once tried to follow them and use their exit. The second I got within a couple of feet of the tunnels, they went in and out; they attacked me. I got a couple of scars from that experience, so I avoided them after that.
