They were noting down something and then they moved backwards into the decontamination zone. I walked down the stairs slowly with my mentor and I held in a breath as through the glass and staff taking off their hazmat suits, I could see the contamination zone. I could see that there was row after row of cages of roaring alphas chained. I flinched with the betas with the sound increasing while Dr. Dawson stood his ground and smirked. "Those are people in cages?" I stuttered out my sentence wiping my eyes as I couldn't believe what I was seeing.

He looked at me and said, "I've called the cops. I guess they'll be here in half an hour. I'll protect you in the meantime. "The second ward has reinforced doors and windows installed due to an incident, so the killer can't barge in that easily. There's a small bedroom with a partition inside. Go and get some sleep. I'll keep watch outside." I nodded and took up on his offer. I was exhausted after the entire ordeal. I lay in bed, feeling well assured. Just when I was about to fall asleep, I noticed a gold bookmark poking out from the drawers of the nightstand. I hesitated a moment before pulling the drawer out. The small drawer was filled with assorted love letters.

And I was going back. I wiped my eyes with the back of my hands and forced myself up off the counter. I had to be strong. Papa wouldn’t want this. I packed enough for a couple days and before I knew it, I was getting off a plane and walking down the runway in a trance. It all went by in a hazy blur. I didn’t remember leaving my apartment, let alone getting on a plane, but here I was, just outside the airport. I hailed a cab and told the driver where I was going. He chuckled and raised a bushy black eyebrow. “Blackwater, eh?
