I stepped inside the stall. The horse turned its head toward me. It was a massive northern warhorse, easily seventeen hands high. It was completely black, its thick winter coat blending perfectly into the shadows. "Easy," I whispered, holding my hands out. "Easy, boy." The horse snorted aggressively, tossing its massive head. It didn't like me. It didn't know my smell. * * *

Every step was taking them away from her friends, the only ones who might be able to save her from this awful choice of hers. "You didn't think that I lived in that old shack, did you? I live wherever I want, and right now I'm taking you straight to my throne so we can talk." Death smirked. "I hope you don't give me what I want though, it's more fun when I hear screams and begs." "Throne?" Holly frowned. "I don't understand. Why would you have a throne? You're one of the four horsemen," she looked around. "Without a horse."

I just smiled and then we kept walking then we saw the stable. There were four horses in it, I was drawn immediately to the dark horse, something about it was comforting,I moved closer to her and touched her, she let me, like she also felt it too. I was busy with Nyx,(the dark horse), I didn't notice Summer was already speaking to the white horse. "Snow, that's her name, she's just so pure",. summer said. Touching the dark horse "Nyx, I I'll call her Nyx" I said, leaning in such a way that my forehead was resting on Nyx' body.

Five Years Later “Go, Dom!!!” Nine-year-old Trevor Calisto was cheering on his cousin from the fences as the boy broke into a gentle canter on his horse. Both their fathers were in the corral coaching him along the little ride. He chose the 8month old Friesian Colt a day ago when his father Killian told him it was time to get his own horse. Vincent bred top of the line horses, and the Friesian breeds he bred strictly for family. The colt was black as night with a calm demeanor matching his new master's attitude. The two boys were excited. Now they can both ride together around the ranch.

I kept my steps light as I crept past them. Chestnut. I needed Chestnut. My favorite horse, loyal and swift, with a warm brown coat that shone even in the dullest light. She was always calm, always steady under my touch. I found her at the far end of the stables, standing quietly in her stall. She lifted her head when she saw me, her large, dark eyes gleaming with recognition.

She’s got this thick white mane, really fairytale looking. Would you like to see a picture?”

Aiden guesses, not that it needs much guesswork. “A ghost,” I nod. “His horse is a stallion. Blackmarsh has mares. There have been foals that we don’t have another explanation for. They’re not ghosts, they’re perfectly normal horses as far as anyone can tell. They’re very, very good horses. Promises Kept is one of them, Keppy for short. He’s one of Katie’s competition horses.” “Ghosts can do that?” He sounds dubious. One of the knights shouted again. The corners of Wiggy's right lip and eyebrow lift together. "Do not be arrogant! We could be cursed kids, right?” Again Phillip glanced at the winged youth doubtfully. They put their trestle together, while Phillip was silent, reluctant to clash with his idol. Before the fight started, the shrill whinny of a horse split the sky first. The knights fell silent in unison as if recognizing the whinny. Slow but sure they stretched the crowd, making room for the horse to step forward. A large, jet black Friesian horse with a long mane on its head and ankles stepped into the crowd.
