Knox suddenly moved in front of me, his body shielding me from Alpha Karl and Kyran. "Since when was it our responsibility to keep tabs on Alpha Eros? He is not just some omega werewolf that can be easily subdued. He is a hybrid alpha. Why come to us if he is missing?" Alpha Kyran's brow raised, and before Alpha Karl could do something, he moved between them. It all happened in a flash, and I watched in horror as Alpha Kyran's fingers laced in Knox's hair, and he bashed his head straight into the nearest seat.

That monster was still controlling him. Nyx stepped forward from the shadows slowly, silver darkness curling around her body like living smoke. “You broke the sanctuary barrier,” she said coldly. Caldor’s eyes shifted toward her. “Of course.” He tilted his head slightly. “Did you really believe you could hide the Moonborn forever?” Orion moved beside Damian, claws extending. “We’re not handing her over.” The ancient hunter finally spoke. “You were never given a choice.” Its voice shook the valley itself. The mountains rumbled violently.

3:10 PM. “Who is Onyx?” I asked. Taren hesitated for a moment. “A lone wolf with a violent record. It attacked handlers. Injured competing wolves. No sponsor is willing to take responsibility. He’s considered unmanageable.” “And they’re killing him,” I said flatly. “Yes.” He answered. I stared at the screen. Something sharp and restless moved through me, the same instinct that always rose when I saw waste disguised as order. “I want to see him,” I said.

Either way, he would be distracted enough with my scent scattered that with any luck I'd get the upper hand. The piercing call of Onyx rippling through the air was the only warning he'd offer. It signalled the start of his hunt so that when he won, because he was always certain he would, no one could contest it. CLAP. Onyx hit a wall of air that Rian created and sent him tumbling down towards the water. 'Don't,' I shifted back to being human and sent through the link to Rian and Sebastian when his beast went to dive for him, 'he's being dramatic.'

They probably representing personalities from the past— some important falk's, I guess. My eyes narrowed at the weapon they are holding. To my surprise, symbols are lying in there. Who seems to be different, depending on who's holding it. But when the sun suddenly showed up, one statue lures my attention. The sun made its simple red structure into a flaming crystal. A scene that I can't keep my eyes on. I looked at her hands and saw her magnificent bow and arrow, owning a symbol that made my heart skipped for an unknown reason. It's a blazing bird, a Phoenix.

Sometimes we’re loaned out as private detectives when the seasons get slow. Many times, my clients seem jittery to be in a trained killer’s office. I turned toward the door just as it opened to reveal Cassian’s tense, worried expression. “What is it?” I asked, already bracing myself. “There’s been another report of a death,” he said grimly. “This time… a vampire.” I didn’t respond immediately. My gaze instinctively darted back to the window, to where Lydia had been just moments ago, but she was gone. Before I could think too far into it, another knock came, sharper, quicker. I turned around, and there she was. Breathless as ever. My heart jolted. My wolf stirred hungrily, claws raking just beneath my skin.

“You killed both of them. You’re a monster.” Adriano stepped closer, stopping just a few feet away. “Your father destroyed my family first,” he said quietly. “Tonight is justice.” Max shook his head again, furious and trembling. “You don’t know anything! You don’t understand—” Before he could finish, the front door opened. Nora walked in, exhausted from her shift at the hospital. She dropped her keys on the table and called out, “Mom? Dad? I’m home—” Her words stopped abruptly.

She smiled at Tray. “Never mind, there are hundreds of these on the wall. I just noticed how creepy that one on the top looks,” Tray pointed at a monster with huge crocodile jaws and bulging eyes. “Well, there is no lead,” June concluded. “We will see what we can do. The two of you can go back to your rooms. Keep an eye on the other members of your group and inform us if you see anything unusual,” Madison said. “Ok,” Noah said, and Tray and Noah walked away.
