Albert said that he would like to stay a bit longer in the library as she said that she would retire for the day. Now, sure of her suspicions that a signal jammer must really be in the house, she has no choice but to wait for tomorrow and leave the House of Don Brook and back to her cosy home and submit the report. But there is still an unsettling feeling in her gut that would not let her fall asleep.

"Damn! He did her bad there. She isn't the one at fault. If you want Tim go get him, rather than use her as a collateral!' She yelled, rolling her eyes. Realizing she wasn't the only person in the room, she coughed and continued with the book. This was going to be a Problem. She wasn't the type to sit and read so quietly! "You can take the whole Library." She heard from behind and turned around only to see that the other guy was about to leave. "Hey, don't go. I'll just go with the book and read it in my room." She mumbled, standing up and heading for the door.

“You scared me. I didn’t hear you coming in, I am sorry.” “I figured out as much,” I answered, and the corner of her mouth twitched. I closed the door behind me without locking it. I had stopped locking it on purpose; I wanted her to know there was always an exit, that she could leave the room if she needed to. “Do you want to tell me what you’re reading?” She told me she had found the book on the shelf. “A story about a woman traveling across the northern mountains,” she said. “That sounds miserable,” I replied.

"I did try to use you, at first. I brought you here because I wanted the book." "But you didn't stay because of the book," she countered. She moved closer, the blanket sliding off her shoulders. "I saw your face at the factory. You didn't ask about the ledger. You didn't ask where it was hidden. You only asked if I was okay. A monster wouldn't do that." I didn't know what to say. I reached out and traced the line of her jaw. "I'm trying to be better. For you." "Stay with me tonight?" she asked. "I don't want to be alone with my thoughts. Not yet."

She tilts her head to the side and raises her brows too, also daring me. I smirked. Why does she like going against me? I thought her B&B (Biker Bitch) character is gone but turns out it hasn't. Hmm, two can play this game. I folded my arms and nod towards my trunk, silently telling her to go on. Few seconds passed, my smile widens when I saw her hesitating.

The silence stretched thin, filled only by the faint crackle from the fireplace. I should have dismissed her immediately, asked her to go back to her room or warned her to stay away from things that could end her life but my voice wouldn’t come. Instead, I just stood there, watching the way her chest rose and fell too fast, the tremor in her fingers and the stubborn tilt of her chin. Finally, I managed to speak. “You shouldn’t be here.” “What is that book?” she asked quietly, defiance dancing in her eyes. “That’s none of your concern.”

I reasoned with her but she wasn't having it. "It still wasn't cool, you could've just told me it was dangerous and I would've stayed," she glared. "We both know that's bullshit," I said, which was followed by silence before she nodded reluctantly, "Now... we're trying to figure something out, either you help or go back upstairs and sleep some more." I said. "I will get you back for this," I watched as she came over to me with an evil smirk, "Let me see this book." Without waiting for an answer, she snatched the book from my grasp and held it against the light of the lamp.

"You know what? It doesn't even matter. Let's leave. We can have this conversation somewhere else. I don't feel so comfortable anymore." Nodding, because I agree with the decision that she should leave, I start to get up from my place on the floor. "I think you should leave first. I'll meet you outside in a second. I need to return this book first." I hold up the book in my hand—the obvious excuse I'm now using to stay in a place I know I'm not supposed to be. Brie watches me with intent, then looks around again as if she's studying the place, then she shakes her head. "No. I'll wait until you're done. Then we can leave together."

This story is so close to my heart, because this is so relatable to my personal life, excluding fictional twists to keep you entertained, while the core remains betrayal and moving on.
