‘You got this. The contestant before her hadn’t had a single bid. Remnants of her jewelry was strewn all over the floor. Trista eloquently explained her design. Two interlocking pendants that fit together perfectly. It was a strange material, with a soft blue glow. Some type of jade, she explained. I wondered where she got it. It looked really rare. But the piece was aptly named – it had the same soft glow as the moon.

She then asks, “What’s so odd about it?” “It’s a rare moonstone. I have never seen such a rare one like it.” I tell her and she continues to look at it before she asks me, “Is it worth a lot of money?” “To a certain buyer, yes.” I tell her and I wonder why she is asking. Then I realize that she was worried about how she was going to pay the doctor and that she may be thinking about pawning it. With that thought, I say to her, “It is a priceless piece since it belonged to your mother.”

However, despite all this it had retained an amazing appearance of ancient beauty. My heart skipped a beat. I reached out my hand and opened the box. There was a large woman's ring with a scarlet stone lying on a black cushion. It was a finely faceted ruby in the form of a dragon's tooth shimmering like a star. On the rim, smiling skulls were carved on either side of the stone. On the inside, there was only one word: “Eridanus”. With trembling fingers, I took the ring and began to open the envelope. Letters, dark as night, were shining on the white paper:
