’ Nova sounded dejected while saying that. “No, I don’t.” After hissing from the pain I tried hiding the book again. Although my foot was still throbbing from the pain I was able to perform the ritual successfully. ‘You’re finally here!’ I jumped on the bed where Nova was sitting on and sighed. ‘Wait, did you grow bigger again?’ I raised my head and looked at the white fluff sitting on. He also grew small feet that’s half the size of my thumb. Nova’s feet looked like a puppy’s small paws, it didn’t have claws and the footprint is very different unlike standard animals.

Smaller ones, thin like an old bible, yellowed with page break apart. Once there pages were successfully separated, I carefully put the knife down, not wanting to slice any pages or myself. The pages smelt like mould and looked ancient, they looked like they would be grimy to the touch but they felt like silk. The amount of small little pages were like a book of their own, how could this be hidden away for so long and no one notice it?

The sixth register was smaller than any of them expected. Octavo-sized, the kind of book that fit in one hand, bound in the same worn-honey leather as the others but with a different quality to its age this one had been touched more recently, handled more carefully, as though whoever had held it last had understood what it contained and had treated it accordingly.

Shelves lined with notebooks in every size, pens in neat rows, and blank journals stacked by the window. I moved to the notebooks and picked one up. "Too big," Duke said. I put it back. Found a smaller one—plain cover, nothing fancy, easy to carry in a pocket or a bag. I flipped it open. Blank pages, lined, the kind that didn't demand anything from you until you were ready. "That one," Duke said.

And also, I need to focus on helping my mother be treated. I get my laptop and my paperwork in the living room, where I put them last night and place it on my table so that I start working while eating. These novels that we will publish are just pocket novels, and it's our first batch of releasing this project. We usually don't intend to publish these types of novels because they are short. I grab it out of her hands and begin going through it, touching all the different pictures as I turn the pages.
