’ ‘You bought it, didn’t you? Penny tilted her head back, her mouth puckering a little, as she thought about the question. ‘I’m not sure, but I think it came from Weatherby’s Estate Sale. Yeah, it did. Remember, that’s the first sale you let me go to on my own. Why, is something wrong with it?’

But he didn't understand what she was doing. “I don't have any money left,” Penny said honestly. “But I'm sure this is worth a good amount. Can you find someone to buy it? You can deduct my hotel bills and…” Renny pursed his lips and refused to take it. “No, that seems important to you,” he said. Penny looked at him again. She was still hesitant to part with it. But only a second later, she looked determined. “It's no longer important to me,” she lied.

I blinked and stared at her with my mouth open while Penny tried to hold in a laugh. “What?” Ria asked cluelessly. “I don't think any of what you just said made much sense.” I told her. “Of course it did. I give really good advice, you know.” She said smugly as she flipped her hair. Penny shook her head and got to her feet and held out both her hands. She stared at both of us with a smile. “Here, take my hands. You have to go to Zayne's room now and Ria, you should get back to work.” She announced.

However, as she reached for the door, her arm was abruptly grabbed, halting her in her tracks. "Ruby, right?" a familiar voice addressed her. It was Paige, the girl with bangs, who had just entered the bathroom in a rush. Ruby recognized her as the one Luke had developed a slight crush on. She couldn't blame him; Paige was undeniably beautiful, and many considered her the epitome of attractiveness in their high school. Unfortunately, Paige was dating the very person who had caused Ruby so much confusion and frustration—Caden, the devil himself.

When her gaze landed on me, her doe-like eyes widened in startled fear, the corners of her mouth trembling. “Big sister…” she said softly. I said nothing, my eyes trailing over her perfectly polished appearance—manicured nails, flawless skin, and the kind of Jewelrys that screamed privilege.

"Good." The road ended at a wooden cabin that appeared to be only slightly larger than their SUV. A rickety wooden porch wrapped around the front, housing an admirable stack of firewood and what appeared to be a tent hung up to dry. They'd been at the canyon longer than he realized, because already the trees nearby cast long shadows across the little clearing. Twilight was closing in quickly. "This is it," Penny said. "My humble abode." "I like it," Xavier said. It suited her, honestly. Penny was the sort of girl that was more at home in nature than indoors. This cabin looked like it had grown right up out of the ground.

I guess creativity is transient afterall. "Wait! I have the perfect dress! Oh my God, it is going to be stunning." Penny jumps, clapping her hands together. I turn around to see her already rummaging through her wardrobe, hunting for the dress. Penny pulls out a silk red dress and my mouth go dry. Thin strapped with ruffles around the midsection that cinches in the waist. Short, like really short. Shorter than what I have ever worn.
