Leaves. I close my swollen eyes. Tomorrow. Pyre. Flames. End. I let my head fall forward. The chains creak. In the silence of my deaf world, one last thought surfaces—clear, quiet, final: *If there’s anything after… find me, Victoria.* *I’ll wait.* The fire crackles. The chains hold. I ate to my fill and lay down supine, meditating on the unfolding storyline. Brenda, the main character, who had taken most of the first chapter to express her distaste for long distance relationships, and who was also seeking for admission as an exchange student to Canada alongside her boyfriend of two years, ended up getting admitted into the exchange programme but unfortunately, her boyfriend Kevin wasn't. Was it going to be the end of their beautiful relationship? Or will Brenda try to overlook the situation and hope it miraculously works out regardless? It does seem like the beginning of their end.

Speaking of which, Ruby shifted into her second form and poured out a gush of water from her hands towards nothingness. “Chaze, mimic Ruby!” Rin shouts which caused me to do exactly what he said. I launched a strong wind attack in front of me and to my surprise it hit something. I poured more power and suddenly something shattered all around us. The fog was expelled as if it was being kept inside a bottle, as if we were in a bottle. Once it cleared several centaurs were standing around us. Me and Ruby quickly leaped back and joined each other with our backs together. We waited for them to strike but nothing happened. They just stared at us as if they were statues.

“And when she is nothing but Hollow, we end it.” Ruby rose taller, her body impossibly straight, her shadow stretching against the ashen sky. The broken gate behind her throbbed with power, widening as if her very presence urged it on. Her crown gleamed black, alive, tendrils reaching down into her skin, stitching her veins with night. She shuddered, not from pain, but from pleasure. Her cinder-guard dropped their eyes. Not one dared meet her gaze. Not one dared breathe too loud. The silence around her was not reverence but suffocation, as though even the air had knelt.

Rachel “Jayce, where are we going?” I asked as he walked with me, with his hands wrapped around my waist and my eyes covered in blindfolds. “I can’t see anything,” “That’s the point, and don’t worry, I’m holding you tight,” Jayce said, and even with a blindfold, I can say that Jayce was smirking, staring at me like that, holding onto him. “There are steps, being careful,” he warned.

Even in the dark, Ruby seemed to shine in Justin's eyes. "What's your name, by the way? I need to write it down.” "Carl Justin," he reluctantly added. "And you?" "Ruby Cassie Liona," she replied. Likely noticing her appreciative looks, he winked at her, instantly infuriating her. It wasn’t a crime to look! It didn’t -mean- anything. She couldn’t help that she had eyes, and he was easy on them.
