Lila sobbed. She cried for a while and then she rose, eyes crazy red and a forebodingly faint smile on her lips. Lila came to her room. She stepped on broken glass that pierced her skin and made her bleed. She didn't wince, though. Neither did she try to tend to her foot. She used her other phone that she used for shooting videos. She searched for a number and dialled it. On the fourth ring, the phone was received and Lila immediately said, "I have work for you."

Lila (Vera's POV) “I have her.” I patched the live feed from the dome’s concealed lens to the projector. A gray silhouette materialized, hood drawn, mask concealing her features. I snatched a portable holo-plate and hurled it across the floor. It skidded to a halt, capturing her reflection in its surface. I studied it, timing my movements with calculated precision, my pulse roaring in my ears. I slipped beneath her blind spot, the sigil pad on my wrist humming with latent power, vibrating against my skin like a living thing.
