Dimly, she watched it soak into her shirt, finding the colour, in that moment, far too warm.
"I think I'd like purple better," she mumbled to herself before finally, finally reaching for the pendant, one final time.
As hard as she could, she yanked the top part of the piece off, pulling the whole lid of and scattering the pieces all over the grey floor.
The blackness that was within, immediately revealed when the lid first came flying off, almost instantaneously evaporated.
