There was a hole nearby with a pup inside it. It was gaunt and weak. One of its legs was injured, so it could not even stand properly. I gently picked it up for a better look. “You don’t have a family either?” The pup did not struggle to break free. It stuck its tongue out to lick my tears away, as if it was trying to take my sorrows away. I looked at the docile pup and thought, ‘The Moon Goddess must have sent him so that I wouldn’t be alone.’ I brought the pup back to the house where I lived before I got together with Jacob.

This time, Ash closed his eyes and sighed out in defeat before nodding to himself and speaking again. "I've just been thinking about mum more lately." Ash looked at the ground, afraid that if he so much as glanced up at Ms Vento's face, he'd break down into ugly tears. She reminded him of his mother more than anyone else he knew. "I miss her and I wish I could go back but I can't and it's honestly killing me." Ash began to rant and, against his better judgement, glanced up to see Ms Vento's reaction. The moment his eyes locked with hers, his eyes welled up with tears and he hung his head again, sobbing lowly under his breath.

While they were arguing about which name suited my pup better, Asher snuck me away. *Nikko's POV* Ash's paws pounding on the earth perfectly matched the pounding of my heart as we made our way to the packhouse. I couldn't believe the effect that this girl was having on me after only a couple of weeks. For the first time since my dad died, I felt truly happy. The packhouse came into sight, and I shifted back into myself, so that I could head upstairs to my room and get some clothes on. There were a few members of the pack that were hanging out in the common room today, and they acknowledged me as I walked by.

I try to continue to move the shirt up to my head and wince trying no to panic that I have broken ribs. When I'm undressed I step into the glorious bathtub. It is only then everything comes back to me. I got kidnapped. Ash got kidnapped because of me. We got beat up and..we almost got raped. And it's all because of me. I feel extremely guilty and I'm ready to get the hell out of these wonderful people that are Brandon, Ash and Alexander live forever. Specially Ash.

We found Ash on level three, cell number fourteen. He was curled in the corner of his unit, small and shaking, his eyes dimmed from the nullification field. But when I broke the cell door open and the runes shattered, his eyes flared back to life. “Mama?” His voice was barely a whisper. “I’m here, baby.” I was on my knees, pulling him into my arms, crushing him against my chest. “Mama’s here. You’re safe now.” He sobbed into my neck, his small hands gripping my shirt with desperate strength. “They kept saying you weren’t coming. That nobody wanted me.”
