She crouched, clinging to the seat with her elbows against the backrest, straining, the elegant gown in expensive fabric bunched up around her waist showing the underskirts.
“Alright,” I told her, “You’re in as good a position as these things get.”
She turned her face to me, her eyes wide, and sweaty face strained. Her hair tumbled from its pins. “Princess.”
“Ashara.”
“Help me,” she pleaded.
“Alright,” I slid my bottom onto the floor of the carriage and dragged her skirts up out of the way. “Let’s get some of this off of her,” I said to the maids. “Fae women deliver in the bare.”
