After Arthur gently spread a blanket over her, he followed my gaze to the old marriage contract on the table. It was the one I had signed years ago. Its edges were now yellow with age. "Still can't let go?" he asked softly. I shook my head. He handed me a silver lighter and flicked it open. "Burn it," he said. I clicked the lighter, and a flame flared to life.

“Just pack your things and leave. I, Alpha Adam Lyons, forever banish you, Emily Charlene Lyons from the Blue Moon pack. If you return back to Blue Moon land, you will be placed in the cells until execution.” Easton let out a murderous growl, and my eyes went wide with shock. “Daddy…why?” Why would my father banish me for finding and marking my fated mate? Before I could even ask the question, my mother was glaring at me. “I never should have accepted you as my daughter. You’re just as terrible as your whore of a mother.” She snarled before walking away.

She looked like she didn’t know how to move or talk… like a frozen pillar of unshaken but obviously trembling ice. “I asked you a question, Witch!” Jason growled, his hands trembling as he grabbed Lila by the shoulder. But she didn't look at him. Her eyes were glued to the base of the altar, where the crimson light was actively leaking backwards. “Say something!” Jason snapped again. But instead of a response, a choked, bloody cough escaped her lips as she stumbled backward, her hand flying to her chest. On the altar, the darkened light that once glowed over Celeste’s body vanished.
