A Secretary Affair
Clint walked slowly toward the large mirror hanging on the far wall, its surface dark and misty.
As he stepped closer, the mist swirled away, showing him not his own reflection, but glimpses of things yet to come—vast battlefields where light clashed against shadow, faces he had never met standing beside him ready to fight, and a tall figure standing alone in the middle of a raging storm, his back turned, waiting.
He did not flinch. He simply tightened his hold on the book, and for the first time in his life, he smiled.
The prophecy was fulfilled, yes, but the story was only just beginning. And this time, no one else would ever get to decide how it ends.
