The colour was wrong. The pendant was always gold and pink, a soft pale pink that I had gotten used to the way you get used to anything you wear every day without thinking about it. But what I was looking at now had a purple edge to it, faint but there, bleeding into the pink like something was shifting underneath the surface. I blinked. Looked again. Still purple. I stood and walked to the mirror above the small dresser and lifted up the pendant to the light. I spun it around once, then twice.

Calming, taking deep breaths, and flickering a glance up at Toya once more. “My eyes… what did you see?” It’s the only thing she said that stuck. “Blue isn’t your color when you engage whatever this was.” Kaelin is the one to answer, and this surprises me. Because I have wolved the last few days and blue is for sure my constant color no matter what form I am in. They never change as they never have. Always blue, eternally glowing since birth. Just brighter as a wolf. “So what were they?” “Purple… well, blue purple sort of.” Toya shrugs, like she isn’t sure she actually saw that color, and Kaelin nods because he saw it too.
